We just returned from a visit to Traverse City for two days of "Bee Stuff". Sure is interesting spending time with so many bee people and it never fails that I learn something new and interesting.
David Payant and I each did two presentations and were referred to as the "UP Mafia". The sessions were well received - at least they didn't run us out of town.
The keynote speaker, Dr.Tammy Horn (Beeconomy: Women in Beekeeping and Bees In America) did a great job speaking about reclaiming land in coal country and making it bee friendly. Maybe the iron, copper and nickel mines have something to learn from this.
The honey contest was intense this year with 26 entries. After the honey awards, I auctioned off over $300 worth of honey to help support a school bee program. Beekeepers always come through for a cause!
Start planning now for the March 2016 Conference in
Lansing.
