* Today is March 20th and and our bees still have 2 feet of snow on the ground and winter storm today.
- Winter losses are hard to judge at this time, but they appear to be around 40%. Pockets exist with no loss and others with 100% loss.
- As we have heard many times, provide good shelter, treat for mites, and have adequate food stores. Getting this right certainly helps survival rates.
- Our UP Bee Conference was cancelled as a result of the coronavirus…. See you next year.
- We will all be making use of the great bee resources put out by MSU (Megan & Ana). This will really help fill the gap while not meeting in groups.
- Sure do like the new bee/pollinator magazine “Two Million Blossoms” by Kirsten Traynor. The book of the same title is about the medicinal uses of honey ….a great read.
