I have been off talking with beekeepers in lower Michigan. The Holland Area Beekeepers Accociation-HABA and the Kalamazoo Area Beekeepers. Both events were well attended with 60-90 people interested in the continual process of learning more about bees. I had a chance to see family on my wanderings and took my sister Carmen with me to Holland. A non beekeeper she commented about what an interesting group of people they were. I was very appreciative of the kindness extended to me by both of the groups. Then off to Flint for the Fall MBA conference. The keynote speaker was Debbie Delaney speaking about bee genetics and several other topics - great job. Other sessions included, honey plants in Michigan, mite control, nosema, mine on overwintering, and several others. We had a honey show with lots of entries and after the beekeepers donated their honey for me to auction. Once again beekeepers, were generous with their bids and we raised over $700 to be given to a local girl scout troop that will be buying hives and bees to educate other girl scouts about bees. After being gone for six days, it was great to get back to the UP on Sunday.
