* The Children's Museum bees were picked up by Landon on Monday who will deposit them back to their home. After the pesticide kill in June, the remaining bees have raised a new queen that has mated and has started to lay and brood is developing. Their recovery against long odds, has been impressive. Let us all hope it is complete. We further hope that awareness of the negative consequences concerning pesticide use/abuse has been increased in our area.
* Our bees are really behind this year. After a good start in April & May, the June weather was cool and wet. July has been marginally better.
Very little or no honey has been stored, as all resources have been used to provide for increased brood production. Hopefully, July will make a big turnaround --warmer and just enough rain to keep the flowers blooming(as I am writing, it is in the 50's and raining).
*Still some swarming going on--not like some years but still a factor to watch for.
